January, month of Fresh Starts, Crisp Mornings, and Brand Spanking New Goals. Perfect from bringing out your inner Adventuress.
Ah, January, month of fresh starts, crisp mornings, and brand spankin’ new goals. From the sidelines I’m watching all the inevitable yearly posts rolling in. Whatever the year, it's the same problems.
The confusion. The "Which goal should I pick? Which goal will get me farthest? I’m stuck wanting two things at once. What do I do?" Goals about what we “should” want vs what we really want. Maybe you can relate. I certainly can. Or maybe you already know what goal you want. But, can I ask you a question? Is your goal a little lackluster? Does it inspire? And will it get you through the inevitable rough spots?
I wonder if the problem is that we don’t want a goal at all. A goal is way too mundane, way too small... What we really want is an adventure.
Something bigger than our current life. Something that will require all of us: all our grit and determination, all of our courage, all of our enterprise and enthusiasm.
“I wonder if the problem is that we don’t want a goal at all. A goal is way too mundane, way too small... What we really want is an adventure. "
Something that will transform us. Not a goal or a thing or even a milestone, but an entire journey.
We don’t *just* want a perfectly decorated house. That’s way too small and dry of goal. No. We want something bigger. We want to become the type of woman who would live there. The type of woman who hosts dinner parties and apéro at five every Friday.
We don’t want to only lose twenty pounds. We want to be the woman who lights up the room with style, charm and vitality. We want to live with joie de vivre. We want our sparkle back.
We don’t want a flower shop, we want to see jaw dropping flowers that awe, that wake women up to the beauty of the world. Of their world.
I mean your reasons for wanting something may differ, our visions and desires are as unique as our fingerprints. But you owe it to yourself to not settle for a goal, but instead to find your vision , the one that will take you on an adventure.
Something so good and so impossible and so life affirming it’s worth all the trouble. The inevitable failures and the setbacks. The one that casts you as the heroine of your own story. The question is how do we get there?
