It’s the end-of-the month Friday Five Faves List!

And this one is all about Home & Hygge! What is Hygge? It's a Danish word best described as...

Hygge \ noun \ ˈh(y)o͞oɡə,ˈho͝oɡə \

1 : the feeling of coziness and contentment evoked by simple comforts, as being wrapped in a blanket, having good conversations, enjoying food, etc.

Of all the luxuries I have happily indulged in my life, from designer sunglasses to luxurious and beautiful purses...

I have to say the ones that give me the most bang for my buck, at least feeling-wise, are the tiny ones that help me feel warm, cozy and at home wherever I happen to being calling that at the time.

I still love big expensive things and luxury items, but it's comforting to know you don't have to spend a fortune to feel like a million bucks or to treat yourself well and indulge!

In that vein here are five small simple luxuries that create Hygge, or warm cozy contentment for me in my home.

Are you ready for it?

Then let's get to it!

1

The Coziest, Fuzziest Chenille Socks

fuzzy soft chenille socks

Small indulges can make the difference between feeling lovingly cared for or neglected. And for me? That means warm socks. But maybe for you that's buying yourself a fuzzy or fleece lined leather gloves, or a new scarf to help you stay warm on that long commute to work. It may sound trivial, but too often as women we make time for the big gestures like a facial or massage, but neglect the small stuff in our lives, like socks we love. Make room for the small stuff, too. And here is one of my favorite pairs!

Cozy up to a Cuppa Tea

The scent of apples and cinnamon brewing on a cold winter day? Nothing says comfort and home to me, quite like my favorite cup of tea. Now make that same cup sugar, caffeine and calorie free? And you also have a healthy indulgence. The say there's nothing a cup of tea can't cure, and I think that's pretty on par with my experience. Here's my favorite tea that I think tastes remarkably like Apple cider!

3

Light a Cozy Candle

Lighting a candle isn't just about making home smell divine. It's also about setting your intention. Make it a point to take a deep breadth, close your eyes, & set your intention to relax each & every time you light it and in no time you'll connect that candle with being hygge and cozy. And as any candle enthusiast will tell you, candles are one of the cheapest ways to make any room, and any day feel special, just by lighting them. Check out my favorite candle so far this year here!

The Softest, Coziest Lingerie

I am a woman who loves lacy, beautiful underthings. But the last thing I want to wear on days spent inside relaxing is anything scratchy or poke-y or with underwire... The solve for me? Investing in pretty matching soft lounge-wear-style lingerie ( sans underwire ) made for days off! Wearing something pretty under my lounge-ware or yoga pants makes me feel beautiful. Here is my favorite store for wireless lingerie in matching sets that lasts.

Lighting to set the Mood

That low, warm, lighting found in the perfect restaurant? The one that sets the ambience for great conversation over dinner? The one that Danish people will search the entire city for to find? It's very hygge.

And it's easily achievable in your own house just by switching out a light bulb or two. And it's really made the difference in my own home.

The trick is to buy light bulbs in the lowest Kelvin you can find. Somewhere around 2300 and putting them in a few lamps to set the mood.

I hope you had fun perusing this little list of small but impactful cozy hygge things that have changed my home into an oasis of calm.

And I hope it's inspired you to dream a little about how you want to spend a little money making your own home feel just as indulgent, without breaking the bank!

All my love,

xoxo
